• Ms. Tansu-Seçkin (Turkey) said her country's diplomatic and consular missions and personnel had been targets of terrorism and many Turkish diplomats had lost their lives in attacks by terrorist organizations.

• Ms. Seçkin (Turkey) said her delegation continued to hold the view that the final form of the work of the International Law Commission on the topic of shared natural resources should be a non-binding instrument in the form of guidelines.

• Ms. Tansu-Seçkin (Turkey) said that, as a third State that had suffered considerably from the consequences of sanctions, Turkey had been following with great interest the deliberations of the Special Committee regarding implementation of the provisions of the Charter relating to assistance to third States affected by sanctions.

• Ms. Seçkin (Turkey) said, with respect to the topic of the expulsion of aliens, that the inclusion in draft article 5, paragraph 1, of terrorism among the grounds on which a State might lawfully expel a refugee from its territory was welcome, because refugee status was still being exploited by terrorists, notwithstanding paragraph 3 (g) of Security Council resolution 1373 (2001), which called on all States to ensure that such abuse did not occur.
