• As for the allegation regarding the remarks of President Talat in an interview given to Bayrak television on 1 May 2007, it is regrettable that in a lengthy interview the sentences of the President were carefully hand-picked in a manner distorting the main thrust of the interview.

• In that regard, it should be noted that the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, Mehmet Ali Talat, made the following disconcerting statements, during an interview to Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation on 1 May 2007: “Initiatives taken for the removal of the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people recently and the positive approach of the international community towards the Turkish Cypriot people have eased the extreme urgency for a solution to the Cyprus problem.
