• It also emerged from interviews the independent expert had with officials of Assistance à la réforme pénitentiaire that the majority of the deportees claim to be unable to drink the prison water because it causes diarrhoea; a number of them stated that they arrived with medication for aggression, diabetes and anxiety, but that the medication was taken from their personal effects at the police stations and not given back.
