• An initiative supported by UNICEF, the Women's General Union and the Ministry of Culture to enable 6,000 girl drop-outs in Idleb to resume their learning prompted the Ministry of Education to support a “second chance learning” project in the north and north-east governorates.
  كما أن مبادرة، تدعمها اليونيسيف والاتحاد العام للمرأة ووزارة الثقافة، لتمكين 000 6 فتاة ممن انقطعن عن التعليم في إدلب من استئناف تعليمهن، قد دفعت وزارة التربية والتعليم إلى دعم مشروع “الفرصة الثانية للتعلم” في محافظات الشمال والشمال الشرقي.
• Building on a successful pilot initiative begun in 1999 in Idleb governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, UNICEF will continue cooperating with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education to provide basic education and life skills education courses for out-of-school 13- to 19-year-old girls in the targeted areas.
  واستفادة من المبادرة الرائدة الناجحة التي بدأت عام 1999 في محافظة إدلب بالتعاون مع وزارة الثقافة، ستواصل اليونيسيف التعاون مع وزارة الثقافة ووزارة التربية والتعليم لتوفير التعليم الأساسي وتنظيم دورات للتوعية بالمهارات اللازمة لدخول معترك الحياة للفتيات اللاتي انقطعن عن الدراسة ممن تتراوح أعمارهن بين 13 و 19 سنة في المناطق المستهدفة.
• Through a combination of local capacity-building, community mobilization and targeted service delivery, the programme will contribute to improving the coverage of health and education services in selected communities within the targeted governorates (Idleb, Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Al Hassakah).

  واستنادا إلى مبادرة رائدة ناجحة بدأت في عام 1998 في محافظة أدلب بالتعاون مع وزارة الثقافة، ستواصل اليونيسيف التعاون مع وزارة الثقافة ووزارة التعليم لتقديم دورات دراسية متعلقة بالتعليم الأساسي ومهارات الحياة لصالح الفتيات اللائي تخلفن عن الدراسة وهن في سن تتراوح بين 13 و 19 سنة في المناطق المستهدفة.
• The project will continue until the end of 2000 and the experiment being conducted in the governorate of Idleb will be extended in the coming years to include the north-eastern governorates, where the female illiteracy rate is also high. Specific projects have been designed for four governorates, but material support from Arab and the relevant international organizations is needed for their implementation.
  وسيستمر المشروع لنهاية عام 2000، وستعمم في الأعوام القادمة تجربة محافظة إدلب على المحافظات الشمالية الشرقية، التي تعاني أيضاً من ارتفاع نسب الأمية بين الفتيات والنساء، وقد أعدت مشاريع محددة ليتم تطبيقها في أربع محافظات، غير أن تنفيذها يتطلب الدعم المادي من المنظمات العربية والدولية المعنية.
• The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Women's General Federation and UNICEF, has begun to implement a literacy plan in the governorate of Idleb to train teachers to provide literacy skills to approximately 6,758 girls. Eight teacher-training courses have been set up for this purpose with 345 teachers participating. Literacy classes have been opened for all illiterate girls in this age group and vocational training courses are run for girls who have been emancipated from illiteracy in order to teach them non-traditional life skills such as computing and environmental and manual skills.
  وقد بدأت وزارة الثقافة بتنفيذ الخطة في محافظة إدلب بالتعاون مع منظمة الاتحاد العام النسائي ومنظمة اليونيسيف، وقد شُرِعَ بعمليات تدريب المعلمات لمحو أمية نحو 758 6 فتاة، وقد نظمت لهذه الغاية 8 دورات تدريبية تأهيلية للمعلمات شاركت فيها 354 معلمة، وافتتحت صفوف لمحو الأمية لجميع الأميات من الفئة العمرية المذكورة، كما افتتحت دورات تأهيلية مهنية لتدريب المتحررات من الأمية على مهارات حياتية غير تقليدية كالتدريب على الحاسوب ومهارات بيئية ومهارات يدوية.
