• The most recent of these undermining exercises in connection with archaeological sites in the Golan was the devastation of a site near the Banat Ya'qub bridge dating back to the Palaeolithic period that was carried out in deliberate and underhand fashion. During the night of 12 January 2000, Van Ethan Sat, the director-general of the administration in charge of the Lake Tiberias drainage network, gave orders to widen the stream of the river Jordan in the region of Wadi Hawlah north of Lake Tiberias, which caused enormous and irreversible damage to an archaeological site that is not only a major world site, but also the oldest site for study of the life and culture of ancient man. This important archaeological site, known as Banat Ya'qub bridge, dates back to the Palaeolithic period, 780,000 years ago. The site contains the second most ancient pieces of evidence of the activity of stone-age man in a region outside the African continent.
  كما أدت المشاريع الاستيطانية الإسرائيلية إلى تدمير مواقع أثرية ذات أهمية وشهرة عالمية فريدة وكان آخر هذه الممارسات التخريبية للمواقع الأثرية في الجولان تدمير موقع قرب جسر بنات يعقوب يعود للعصر الحجري القديم الأدنى بطريقة متعمدة وخادعة: ففي ليل 1-2 كانون الثاني/يناير 2000 أمر (فان إيتان سات) المدير العام لإدارة شبكة مصارف مياه بحيرة طبرية بتوسيع مجرى نهر الأردن في منطقة وادي الحولة شمال بحيرة طبرية مما ألحق أضرارا فادحة لا تعوض في موقع أثري يعتبر من أهم المواقع العالمية وأقدمها لدراسة حياة وثقافة الإنسان القديم، ويعرف هذا الموقع الأثري الهام باسم (جسر بنات يعقوب) الذي يرجع تاريخه إلى العصر الحجري القديم الأدنى الذي يمتد إلى 780 ألف سنة قبل وقتنا الحاضر، ويقدم هذا الموقع ثاني أقدم دليل على وجود نشاط لإنسان العصر الحجري في منطقة خارج القارة الأفريقية.
• The odious and inhuman practices of the occupation authorities are also illustrated by the fact that, on 7 January 2001, the abundant rainfall exposed a graveyard at the Banat Ya'qoub bridge in the western part of the Golan which contained the bodies of Syrian and other Arab citizens and soldiers who had been buried in a shameful manner. This was revealed by the London-based Al-Wasat magazine in a lengthy article published at the time.
