What has been described as the “commodification of the commons”, together with the spread of market-driven commodity chains and attendant property forms over natural resources, is imposing unprecedented labour intensity and precarious “flexibilization” and “casualization” on a minority lucky to hold on to steady employment in the formal sector and forced to share resources, as well as compete, with a vast sea of dispossessed human capacity.

ويفرض ما وُصِف بأنه "تسليع المشاعات"، إلى جانب انتشار سلاسل السلع الأساسية التي يقودها السوق وما يصاحب ذلك من أشكال ملكية الموارد الطبيعية، كثافةً غير مسبوقة في اليد العاملة، ويفرض جَعْل أقلية محظوظة، لاحتفاظها بعمالة منتظمة في القطاع الرسمي، أقلية تتسم "بطابع المرونة" و"بالطابع العرضي"، وهما طابعان محفوفان بالمخاطر، ويُجبرها على تقاسم الموارد، وكذلك على التنافس، مع بحر شاسع من القدرة البشرية المستبعَدة.
