• At its first plenary meeting, on 7 November 2007, the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties confirmed by acclamation the nomination of Ambassador Franciscos Verros of Greece as Chairperson of the Meeting.

• At its second plenary meeting, on 13 November 2008, the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties considered a report by Ambassador Franciscos Verros of Greece, Chairperson of the 2007 Meeting of the High Contracting Parties, on the implementation of the Plan of Action to promote the universality of the Convention.

• The Third Review Conference also decided, as contained in Decision 6 of the Final Declaration “to nominate a representative of the Western European and Others Group (WEOG) as Chairperson-designate of the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties.” Consequently, Ambassador Franciscos Verros of Greece was nominated by the WEOG as Chairperson-designate.
  وقرر المؤتمر الاستعراضي الثالث أيضاً، كما ورد في المقرر 6 من الإعلان النهائي "تسمية ممثل لمجموعة أوروبا الغربية والمجموعات الأخرى رئيساً معيناً لاجتماع الأطراف المتعاقدة السامية".
• To complete the picture, I should also mention that I have co-signed a letter with Ambassador Franciscos Verros of Greece, in his capacity as Chairperson of the 2007 Meeting of the High Contracting Parties, addressed to all the Convention's States parties.
