• On 30 June 2006 a vessel using the name Selam travelled from the Eritrean seaport of Massawa to Somalia carrying food and arms, as follows: 2,000 tons of food, about 50 DShK, 50 82 mm mortars, 3,000 AK-47s and 1,000 boxes of ammunition.

• On 7 October 1999, the Special Rapporteur sent to the Government allegations concerning the following cases: Yalcin Kucuk, a journalist of Hepileri, who has been jailed since 29 October 1998 and is currently detained at Gezbe prison; Nadire Mater, a reporter for Inter Press Service, who was charged under article 159 of the Penal Code “for insulting and belittling the military” in her book Mehmed's Book: Soldiers who have fought in the south-east speak out and who, if convicted, faces a prison sentence of one to six years; Nuredin Sirin, an editorialist of Selam who was sentenced on 18 December 1998 for an article he published on 15 July 1997; the Kurdish “MED-TV” satellite channel, which had its broadcasting licence withdrawn on 23 April 1999.
  في 7 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1999، أحال المقرر الخاص الى الحكومة المزاعم المتعلقة بالحالات التالية: يلسين كوشوك، وهو صحفي يعمل بصحيفة "Hepileri" أُدخل السجن منذ 29 تشرين الثاني/أكتوبر 1998 ومحتجز حاليا في سجن جيزهي؛ نادير ماتر، وهي صحفية تعمل في مؤسسة انتربرس للخدمات، أُدينت بموجب المادة 159 من القانون الجنائي بتهمة "سب العسكريين والحط من قدرهم" في كتابها المعنون "Mehmed,s Book: soldiers who have fought in the south-east speak out" وهي تواجه، إذا أدينت، عقوبة بالسجن لفترة تتراوح بين سنة وست سنوات؛ نورالدين سيرين، وهو محرر بصحيفة "Selam" عوقب في 18 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1998 بسبب مقالة نشرها في 15 تموز/يوليه 1997 بشأن القناة الفضائية الكردية "MED-TV" التي سُحب منها ترخيص البث في 23 نيسان/ابريل 1999.
