• In addition, the following journalists have reportedly been sentenced to longer prison terms: (a) Benardo Arévalo Padrón, founder of the independent “Linea Sur Press” news agency, in Aguadade Pasajeros, was allegedly sentenced to six years' imprisonment for insulting President Fidel Castro and Vice-President Carlos Lage; (b) Juan Carlos Recio Martinez, a “Cuba Press” correspondent, was allegedly sentenced to one year of community service on 13 February 1998 for acts against the security of the State; (c) Lorenzo Páez Núňez, a correspondent of the independent “BPIC” news agency in Artemisa, Havana, was allegedly sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for insulting the national police.
  وبالإضافـة إلى ذلـك، حُكـم علـى ما يُزعم على الصحفيين التالية أسماؤهم بعقوبات سجن أطول مدة: (أ) برناردو أريفالو بادرون، مؤسس وكالة الأنباء المستقلة "Líίnea Sur Press" بأغوادا دي باساخيروس، ويزعم أنه حكم عليه بالسجن لمدة ست سنوات لشتمه للرئيس فيديل كاسترو ولنائب الرئيس كارلوس لاغيه؛ (ب) خوان كارلوس ريثيو مارتينيس، مراسل ""Cuba Press، ويُزعم أنه حكم عليه بأداء خدمة مجتمعية لمدة سنة، في 13 شباط/فبراير 1998 لارتكابه أفعال مخلة بأمن الدولة؛ (ج) لورنزو باييس نونييس، مراسل وكالة الأنباء المستقلة "BPIC" بأرتيميسا، هافانا، ويُزعم أنه حكم عليه بالسجن لمدة 18 شهراً لشتمه للشرطة الوطنية.
