c Confusion between the concepts of the “province (apanage) of all mankind” and “common heritage (patrimoine commun) of mankind” should be avoided (see the Agreement Governing the Activities of States on the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies of 1979).

Mr. Brosseau (France) pointed out that, in the French version of the document, in the third line of the second preambular paragraph, the word “patrimoine” was used, whereas the word “apanage” should have been used, as in article I of the Outer Space Treaty.
