• The conference concentrated on how to implement the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for water and the Johannesburg Summit's targets on sanitation and integrated water resources management The outcome of the conference will be reported to the Commission on Sustainable Development at its thirteenth session Main points included that the Millennium Development Goals on water and sanitation are achievable; that people have a right to safe water supplies that satisfy their basic needs at a price they can afford; and that national Governments have the main responsibility in that area but not the sole responsibility.
