In 2001, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the European Central Bank (ECB), the Statistical Office of European Communities (Eurostat), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations joined together to develop more efficient processes for the exchange and sharing of data and metadata within the current scope of their collective activities.

The statistical data and meta-data exchange (SDMX) project2 is a consortium of seven international bodies (Bank for International Settlements, European Central Bank, Eurostat, IMF, OECD, the United Nations Statistics Division and the World Bank), working to develop a set of common business practices in the field of statistical information that would allow more efficient processes for the exchange and sharing of data and metadata within the current scope of their collective activities.
إن مشروع تبادل البيانات والبيانات الفوقية الإحصائية(2) هو عبارة عن اتحاد يضم 7 منظمات دولية (مصرف التسويات الدولية والبنك المركزي الأوروبي والمكتب الإحصائي للجماعات الأوروبية وصندوق النقد الدولي ومنظمة التعاون والتنمية في الميدان الاقتصادي والشعبة الإحصائية في الأمم المتحدة والبنك الدولي) ويعمل على وضع مجموعة من ممارسات العمل الموحدة في ميدان المعلومات الإحصائية التي من شأنها أن تتيح عمليات أكفأ لتبادل وتقاسم البيانات والبيانات الفوقية في إطار النطاق الحالي لأنشطتها الجماعية.
