On instructions from my Government, I wish to inform you that on 28 August 2000 the Iraqi vessel Juan was subjected to an act of piracy on the part of the American naval forces stationed in the Arabian gulf. These forces broke the vessel's doors and portholes and destroyed tables, chairs and glass panes. They also assaulted the captain and crew and stole their money.
بناء على تعليمات من حكومتي، أود أن أحيطكم علما أنه بتاريخ 28 آب/أغسطس 2000 تعرضت الباخرة العراقية (جوان) إلى القرصنة من قبل القوات البحرية الأمريكية المتواجدة في الخليج العربي حيث قامت هذه القوات بالاعتداء على الباخرة وكسر أبوابها وشبابيكها وبقية محتوياتها من المناضد والكراسي والزجاج وضرب قبطانها وطاقمها وسرقة أموالهم.
