The Costa Rican State has been working consistently since the early 1980s to eliminate all teaching content, methods, and tools within the formal-education system that assign roles that are alien to the concepts of social equality and gender complementarity or that perpetuate the notion of women's inferiority.
وقد اضطلعت الدولة الكوستاريكية بتدابير منتظمة منذ مطلع الثمانينات لحذف المحتويات والمناهج والوسائل التربوية في التعليم الرسمي التي تسند فيها أدوار تخالف المساواة الاجتماعية والتكامل بين الجنسين، أو التي تضع المرأة في موضع التبعية.

The Government is aware that much work remains to be done, especially in addressing other disadvantages suffered by women, such as: geographical location, which goes beyond living in rural areas to experiencing problems of access to schools and new technologies, and the fact that they are still locked into a patriarchal system that assigns roles and activities on the basis of gender, so that girls and women of all ages have double or triple workload.

These include enhancing the resident coordinator and country team selection and appraisal processes, revising the job description of resident coordinator to take into account the system-wide representational role, and assigning more responsibility to the resident coordinator in regard to programme matters, including authority to design and implement UNDAF.
وتشمل هذه المبادرات تحسين عمليات اختيار وتقييم أداء المنسقين المقيمين، والأفرقة القطرية؛ وتنقيح مواصفات عمل المنسق المقيم بما يراعي دوره التمثيلي على مستوى كامل نطاق المنظومة، ويسند إليه مسؤوليات أخرى فيما يتعلق بالمسائل البرنامجية كتفويضه سلطة تصميم وتنفيذ إطار عمل الأمم المتحدة للمساعدة الإنمائية.
