At its thirtieth session, from 20 May to 7 June 2002, the Committee on the Rights of the Child adopted a general recommendation, under organization of work, regarding the content and size of State reports, in which it, inter alia, decided to review in the near future its guidelines for periodic reporting in order to encourage States parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child6 not to submit overly lengthy periodic reports and requested them to submit concise periodic reports, not exceeding 120 pages, that are analytical and focus on key implementation issues.
في الدورة الثلاثين المعقودة في الفترة من 20 أيار/مايو إلى 7 حزيران/يونيه 2002، اعتمدت لجنة حقوق الطفل توصية عامة، في إطار تنظيم أعمالها، بشأن محتوى وحجم تقارير الدول، وقررت فيها ، ضمن جملة أمور، أن تستعرض في المستقبل القريب المبادئ التوجيهية التي وضعتها من أجل تشجيع الدول الأطراف في اتفاقية حقوق الطفل على عدم تقديم تقارير دورية مفرطة في طولها، وطلبت إليها تقديم تقارير موجزة لا تتجاوز 120 صفحة وتتسم بالطابع التحليلي وتتركز على المسائل الرئيسية في مجال التنفيذ.

During the 1998-1999 biennium, the Central Evaluation Unit conducted one-week training workshops in the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia and the Economic Commission for Africa Assessments by participants were solicited by questionnaire at the end of each workshop, covering such issues as timing, duration, group size, contents, material distributed and method of instruction.
