(e) The sphere of activities of Mr. Pikis in the legal field is not limited to Cyprus, but covers a wide range of participation in the affairs of international bodies where his role has always been leading, creative and prominent.

The goal and results of the country programme are within the UNDAF, which commits the United Nations to work towards: (a) strengthening state capacities, particularly to reduce exclusion, vulnerabilities and gender disparities; (b) addressing employment opportunities for the most vulnerable and curbing child labour; (c) reducing regional human development disparities; (d) strengthening the role and participation of women in the political and public spheres; and (e) promoting a culture of respect for human rights.
يندرج هدف ونتائج البرنامج القطري في نطاق إطار عمل الأمم المتحدة للمساعدة الإنمائية، الذي يُلزم الأمم المتحدة بالعمل على تحقيق ما يلي: (أ) تعزيز قدرات الدولة، لا سيما من أجل الحد من مظاهر الاستبعاد وأوجه الضعف والتفاوتات بين الجنسين؛ (ب) معالجة المسائل المتعلقة بتوفير فرص العمل لأشد الفئات ضعفا ومكافحة عمل الأطفال؛ (ج) الحد من الفوارق الإقليمية في مجال التنمية البشرية؛ (د) تعزيز دور ومشاركة المرأة في المجالات السياسية والعامة؛ و(هـ) العمل على إشاعة ثقافة احترام حقوق الإنسان.

In accordance with the request made by the working group at the Sub-Commission's fiftieth session and with decision 1998/110 of the Sub-Commission, Mr. Fix-Zamudio submitted a report entitled, “improvement and efficiency of the judicial instruments for the protection of human rights at the national level and their impact at the international level: systematic and comprehensive analysis of the various judicial and procedural instruments for the protection of human rights in the domestic sphere” (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1999/WG.1/CRP.1).
عملا بالطلب المقدم من الفريق العامل خلال الدورة الخمسين للجنة الفرعية وبمقـرر اللجنة الفرعية 1998/110، قدم السيد فيكس - ساموديو تقريرا معنونا "تحسين وكفاءة الصكوك القانونية لحماية حقوق الإنسان على الصعيد الوطني وأثرها على الصعيد الدولي": تحليل منهجي وشامل لمختلف الصكوك القضائية والاجرائية لحماية حقوق الإنسان على النطاق المحلي (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1999/WG.1/CRP.1).
