As a result of constant pressure on the Government from the health and education sectors, there was an exceptional 3 per cent increase in basic pay for those sectors, implemented through Supreme Decree No. 27654 of 30 June 2004 (annex 6). The increase was mutually agreed or freely set in the private sector subject to the signature of a salary agreement between the parties (this agreement must be approved by the Ministry of Labour); the national minimum wage, set at 440 bolivianos, has not increased since 2005 and continues to apply.
