• With regard to the extension of custody and preventive detention of a person who is to be extradited to another State upon that State's request, article 421 of the Code of Criminal Procedures and the above-mentioned agreements concluded by the Kingdom of Bahrain on the subject, inter alia, of the extradition of criminals stipulate that, in urgent cases, a court may decide, upon the request of the judicial authorities of the requesting State, to remand the person whose extradition is sought in provisional custody pending receipt of the written request and the annexes thereto. A person whose extradition is requested may not be detained for more than 30 days, which may be extended to 60 days if the court decides that there is a compelling reason for doing so. In no case may the detention be extended beyond this time limit.
  وفيما يتعلق بمدد هذا الاحتجاز والحبس الاحتياطي المؤقت في حالة اعتزام تسليم الشخص لدولة أخرى بناء على طلبها، تقضي أحكام المادة 421 من قانون الإجراءات الجنائية وكذلك الاتفاقيات التي أبرمتها مملكة البحرين التي تتضمن أحكامها تسليم المجرمين والسابق الإشارة إليها، بأنه يجوز للمحكمة المختصة في حالة الاستعجال وبناء على طلب يقدم إليها من السلطات القضائية في الدولة الطالبة أن تقرر حجز الشخص المطلوب تسليمه مؤقتا حتى يرد طلب التسليم الكتابي ومرفقاته، ولا يجوز حجز الشخص المطلوب تسليمه مدة تزيد على ثلاثين يوما قد تمتد إلى ستين يوما إذا تبين للمحكمة سببا يقتضي ذلك، ولا يجوز بأي حال من الأحوال تمديد هذا الحبس لأكثر من هذه المدة.
