Economic regulation addresses issues that are similar across IS, including establishing a competitive environment for private participation, guiding price formulation and services quality, protecting consumers, attracting and regulating FDI with a view to generating pro-development results, ensuring UA for the poor and vulnerable, addressing adverse income and wealth distribution effects, and achieving efficiency and cost reduction targets.
