In his much cited study “The Social Influence of Change in Hunting Technique among Central Kalahari San” [African Studies Monographs 5], for example, the Himeji-Dokkyo University anthropologist Masakazu Osaki reported that during his stay in Xade between September and February in 1982/3, of the 91 large ungulates killed by hunters only one of these was brought down by traditional bow and arrow.
