No post mortem examination was performed on his body because the cause of death was known, as evidenced by the death certificate (coronary thrombosis resulting in cardiac arrest). In addition, a considerable number of Najaf physicians had had him under their constant care and were in agreement concerning his state of health. Had an autopsy been done on him, some people would have said that it was a desecration of the body of a religious scholar of repute who had played a significant role in society, and would have made other such remarks.
لم تشَّرح جثته لأن أسباب الوفاة معروفة وكما مثبتة في شهادة الوفاة (انسداد شرايين القلب مما أدى إلى توقفه)، فضلا عن أن عددا غير قليل من أطباء النجف يزورونه باستمرار وواقفين على وضعه الصحي، ولو أجري تشريح لجثته لقال الزاعمون أن التشريح إهانة لحرمة جثة عالم ديني له سمعته ودوره في المجتمع، وغير ذلك من الأقاويل.
