According to the preliminary data of the Federal Institute for statistics, in FBiH, in 2001, the leading cause of death of infants, with slight differences in case of male and female newborns, were certain states originating from the prenatal period (suffixation of the newborn, respiratory distress syndrome, disturbances related to shorter pregnancy and small weight, intracranial laceration, and bleeding due to injury at birth, infant sepsis bacteria, and intracranial non-traumatic bleeding) with a structure index of 58,9%.
ووفقا للبيانات الأولية للمعهد الاتحادي للإحصاء في اتحاد البوسنة والهرسك، في عام 2001، كان السبب الرئيسي لوفيات الرضع، مع وجود اختلافات طفيفة في حالة المواليد الجدد الذكور والاناث، هو بعض الحالات التي مصدرها فترة ما قبل الولادة مثل اختناق المولود الجديد، واضطرابات الجهاز التنفسي، واضطرابات ترتبط بقصر فترة الحمل وقلة الوزن وتهتك الجمجمة والنزيف الناجم عن الاصابة أثناء الولادة وبكتريا التعفن لدى الوليد والنزيف الجمجمي غير الناجم عن صدمات، مع ترتيب في المؤشر بنسبة 58.9 في المائة.
