With regard to demographic assumptions, the following changes were approved by the Standing Committee in 2003, acting on the recommendation of the Committee of Actuaries: (a) a reduction in the tabular rates of mortality by 10 per cent for Professional staff in active service and (b) a reduction in the tabular rates of mortality by 10 per cent for retirees from the Professional category who are receiving disability benefits.
