• In this connection, we also urge UN Member States to reaffirm their commitment to achieving the MDG target on universal access to reproductive health, which includes, based on the concept of informed choice, the availability of accessible, affordable, appropriate and high-quality reproductive health services, particularly in the context of primary health care; appropriate education and information on sexual and reproductive health, including family planning; focused and effective prenatal care; maternal nutrition programs; control of infectious diseases; adequate delivery assistance that avoids excessive recourse to Caesarean sections, episiotomy, administration of oxytocin, and other medical procedures, and provides for obstetric emergencies; referral services for pregnancy, childbirth and abortion complications; and post-natal care and family planning.
  وفي هذا الصدد، نحث أيضاً الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة على إعادة تأكيد التزامها بتحقيق الهدف الإنمائي للألفية المتعلق بإتاحة فرصة الحصول على خدمات الصحة الإنجابية للجميع، وهو هدف يشمل، استناداً إلى مفهوم الخيار المستنير، توافر خدمات الصحة الإنجابية التي تسهل الاستفادة منها وبتكلفة معقولة، وتكون مناسبة وعالية الجودة، ولا سيما في ظل الرعاية الصحية الأولية؛ وتوفير التثقيف المناسب والمعلومات الملائمة بشأن الصحة الجنسية والإنجابية، بما في ذلك تنظيم الأسرة؛ والرعاية المركزة والفعالة السابقة للولادة؛ وبرامج تغذية الأمهات؛ ومكافحة الأمراض المعدية؛ وتقديم المساعدة الكافية أثناء الولادة التي تتجنب اللجوء المفرط إلى عمليات الولادة القيصرية وبَضْع الفرج وإعطاء هرمون الأوكسيتوسين (المعجّل للولادة)، وإجراءات طبية أخرى، وتوفير الإمكانات اللازمة لحالات الولادة الطارئة؛ وإتاحة خدمات الإحالة لمضاعفات الحمل والوضع و الإجهاض؛ وتوفير الرعاية بعد الولادة وتنظيم الأسرة.
