• The working group, therefore, advised that Mongolia should seek assistance from the international community in the following areas: provision of up-to-date, highly sensitive detection equipment, portable detection instruments and X-ray equipment to screen cargo; upgrading the database on cross-border movements; training of customs and border patrol officers in areas such as export controls, biological and related security standards and the prosecution of groups and individuals engaged in terrorist activities involving weapons of mass destruction.

• At the informal consultations of the whole of the Security Council held on 21 July 1999, the members of the Council received a briefing by the Chef de Cabinet on the visit to the Special Commission's premises in Baghdad of an expert team from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons with the mandate to ascertain the existence or otherwise of chemical agents and biological samples in the Baghdad Monitoring and Verification Centre; evaluate the chemical laboratory and the biological room; destroy the conventional laboratory chemicals, chemical standards and biological samples; remove mustard gas samples; and switch off the equipment in the laboratory.

• - Strengthening adaptation strategies to address rising sea levels. Measures in this regard include adopting measures combining slope with shore protection and engineering with biological measures; raising design standards for sea-dike height, and heightening and consolidating existing sea-dike engineering works to enhance their capacity to handle rising sea levels; preventing over-exploitation of groundwater and land subsidence in coastal areas by artificially recharging groundwater in areas of land subsidence; taking such countermeasures as using fresh water from rivers or reservoirs to dilute and restrain brackish water against seawater incursions in estuaries; raising protection standards for coastal cities and major projects, for designed height of port docks, and for adjusting outlet depths; and making efforts to construct multi-species, multi-layer, and multi-functional forest coastal shelterbelt systems.
