That was precisely why Ecuador attached such importance to the provisions of General Assembly resolution 58/89 of 9 December 2003, which called for more effective use of space technology and encouragement of the orderly growth of space activities to promote sustained economic growth and sustainable development in all countries, as well as to mitigate the consequences of natural disasters, in particular in the developing countries.
وهذا هو على وجه الدقة ما يحدو بإكوادور إلى أن تولي هذا القدر من الأهمية لأحكام قرار الجمعية العامة 58/89 المؤرخ 9 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003، الذي دعت فيه الجمعية إلى زيادة فعالية استخدام تكنولوجيا الفضاء وتشجيع النمو المنظم للأنشطة الفضائية تعزيزا لاطراد النمو الاقتصادي والتنمية المستدامة في جميع البلدان، فضلا عن تخفيف آثار الكوارث الطبيعية، وبخاصة في البلدان النامية.
