The International Conference on Population and Development, which was held in Cairo in 1994, defined reproductive health as the general physical, mental and social well-being of a human being in every area relating to the genital apparatus, including its functions and workings, and not just the absence of diseases or illness.
عرف المؤتمر الدولي للسكان والتنمية المنعقد في القاهرة في عام 1994 الصحة الإنجابية بأنها رفاه الإنسان النفسي والبدني، فيما يخص الجهاز التناسلي ووظائفه وأداءه مهامه، وليس فحسب عدم الإصابة بالأمراض أو بالعاهات.

Antenatal services will be provided to 50 per cent of pregnant women and at least 40 per cent of births will be attended by a qualified nurse. Post-natal and paediatric care will be provided to 15 per cent of children following the introduction of a series of measures and interventions; Action will be taken on various fronts to reduce the incidence of unsafe reproductive practices, including premature, delayed, closely-spaced and multiple births; Various measures and activities will be undertaken to eradicate diseases of the genital apparatus and sexually-transmitted diseases.
