  (ب) تشجيع القيام بدراسات، على الصعيد النظري والرصدي والتجريبـي، للخواص الفيزيائية والمعدنية للأجسام الصغيرة في المنظومة الشمسية، مع ايلاء اهتمام خاص للأجسام القريبة من الأرض؛
• The scientific goal is to explore the physical, geological and mineralogical nature of the asteroids and to provide information on the formation and evolution of the Earth's planetary system.
  ويتمثل الهدف العلمي من ذلك في استكشاف الطبيعة الفيزيائية والجيولوجية والمعدنية للكويكبات وتوفير معلومات عن تكوّن النظام الكوكبي للأرض وتطوره.
