Add to these factors, on the one hand, the massive exodus of the rural youth towards the city and the urbanized consumer behaviors they later bring back to their villages, and on the other hand, the circumstances of the Lebanese war that lasted fifteen years and changed the social human map and the criteria adopted to define rural areas. A war which, with the kinetic and recurrent displacement and movement it imposed, had sometimes a negative impact on awareness levels, and sometimes a positive impact, when it helped to provide easy education opportunities for rural young women. But these education opportunities often did not ensure women the chances for an equal integration at the work and decision-making levels. Owing to educational achievements, the advent of the audio-visual media into every home, social relations, as well as to the amelioration of the means of transport, of social and medical services and of communications, the Lebanese regions have witnessed many urbanization manifestations, which are sometimes parallel to the manifestations of conservatism deeply stirred by this kind of urbanization.
وإلى تلك العناصر تضاف الهجرة الكثيفة من شباب القرى نحو المدينة وما يعودون به إلى قراهم بعد فترة من الزمن من مظاهر وسلوكيات استهلاكية متمدينة وإلى ظروف الحرب اللبنانية التي دامت مدة خمسة عشر عاما وغيرت من الخريطة البشرية الاجتماعية ومن المعايير المعتمدة للتعريف بالريف - علما أن هذه الحرب وما فرضته من حركية تهجير وتنقل متكررة أثرت سلبا في حدود الوعي تارة، وأثّرت تارة أخرى إيجابا عندما ساهمت في توفير فرص تعليم سهلة للشابات الريفيات، وإن كانت فرص التعليم لم تؤمن لهن غالبا فرص الاندماج المتكافئ على صعيد العمل واتخاذ القرار - إن التحصيل العلمي ودخول الوسائل السمعية والبصرية إلى كل بيت، واختلاط الناس وتحسن وسائل النقل، والخدمات الاجتماعية والصحية والاتصالات، كل ذلك جعل معظم المناطق اللبنانية تشهد الكثير من مظاهر التمدين المتوازية أحيانا مع مظاهر المحافظة المنفعلة على هذا النوع من التمدين.
