• A revocably divorced woman:
  المطلقة طلاقاً رجعياً
• The woman shall show herself and the husband may no longer take back his wife after the period of waiting following revocable divorce is complete.
  تبين المرأة وتنقطع الرجعة بانقضاء عدة الطلاق الرجعي.
• Such separation shall be a revocable divorce. If the absent husband returns or is released from prison and the woman is in the period of waiting, he shall have the right to take her back.
  هذا التفريق طلاق رجعي فإذا رجع الغائب أو أطلق السجين والمرأة في العدة حق له مراجعتها.
• A revocable divorce shall not terminate a marriage and the husband may take back his divorced wife during the period of waiting by word or deed, a right which shall not be abrogated.
  الطلاق الرجعي لا يزيل الزوجية وللزوج أن يراجع مطلقته أثناء العدة بالقول أو الفعل ولا يسقط هذا الحق بالإسقاط.
• If the husband dies while the woman is in the period of waiting which follows revocable divorce, she shall move into the period of waiting which follows death and the period already spent shall not be discounted.
  إذا توفي الزوج وكانت المرأة في عدة الطلاق الرجعي تنقل إلى عدة الوفاة ولا يسحب ما مضى.
• If a revocably divorced woman dies or if her husband predeceases her before her period of waiting is complete, she shall inherit from him regardless of whether he was in good health or terminally ill when he divorced her.
  إذا ماتت أو مات عنها زوجها قبل أن تنقضي عدتها منه سواء طلقها وهو سليم أو وهو مريض مرض الموت فإنها ترث عنه.
• Divorce is of two kinds. Revocable divorce is when the marital bond is dissolved only after the expiry of the waiting period, during which time the husband has the right to take his wife back, even without her consent. Irrevocable divorce is where the marital bond is dissolved finally and is of two kinds.
  والطلاق نوعان: الطلاق الرجعي، وفيه لا تحلّ الرابطة الزوجية إلاّ بعد انقضاء فترة العدّة، وللزوج أن يرجع زوجته خلال هذه الفترة حتى بدون موافقتها، والطلاق البائن، وفيه تحـلّ الرابطة الزوجية بشكل نهائـي.
• A further illustration of the equality of rights and responsibilities upon the dissolution of marriage is to be seen in the fact that in the event of a revocable divorce, the husband does not have an automatic right to take his wife back before the expiration of her waiting period: he must state his intention of doing so before two adouls (witnesses under Islamic law), who immediately inform the judge.
  ومن الجوانب الأخرى للمساواة في الحقوق والمسؤوليات عند فسخ الزواج، يجدر بالإشارة أن الطلاق الذي يمكن الرجوع فيه لا يترتب عليه الحق في الرد التلقائي للزوجة الذي يمارسه الزوج قبل انتهاء العدة. ويجب أن يتم الرد أمام شاهدين يخطران به القاضي على الفور.
• The basis for this is the Quranic verse which states, “Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property.” A divorced woman has the right to maintenance during her iddat waiting period, whether the divorce is revocable or irrevocable and, if the latter, whether it is minor or major.
  وللمرأة المطلّقة نفقة ما دامت في فترة العدّة، سواء كان الطلاق رجعياً أو بائناً، وسواء كان بائناً بينونة صغرى أو كبرى.
