  وتنص المادة 15 (1) من الدستور الاتحادي على أنه يحق للمرأة الأجنبية المتزوجة من رجل ماليزي أن تحصل على الجنسية لدى تقديمها طلبا إلى الحكومة إذا كانت علاقة الزواج قائمة وكانت المرأة قد أقامت في الاتحاد لفترة سنتين قبل تقديم الطلب وإذا كانت تنوي الإقامة بشكل مستمر وكانت حسنة السير والسلوك.
