  « ولو يؤاخذ الله الناس بظلمهم » بالمعاصي « ما ترك عليها » أي الأرض « من دابة » نسمة تدب عليها « ولكن يؤخرهم إلى أجل مسمى فإذا جاء أجلهم لا يستأخرون » عنه « ساعة ولا يستقدمون » عليه .
• And if Allah should take mankind to task for their injustice, in no way would He leave hereon any beast; but He defers them to a stated term. So when their term comes, they will not be able to postpone it by an hour, nor put it forward.

  ولو يؤاخذ الله الناس بكفرهم وافترائهم ما ترك على الأرض مَن يتحرَّك ، ولكن يبقيهم إلى وقت محدد هو نهاية آجالهم ، فإذا جاء أجلهم لا يتأخرون عنه وقتًا يسيرًا ، ولا يتقدمون .
