Examples

• And adhere firmly to the Rope (i.e. the Covenant of Allah=the Qur`an) of Allah, altogether, and do not be disunited; and remember the favor of Allah upon you as you were enemies, then He brought your hearts together, (Literally: joined "between") so you have become brethren by His favor. And you were upon the brink of a hole of the Fire, so He rescued you from it. Thus Allah makes evident His signs to you, that possibly you would be guided.
  واعتصموا بحبل الله جميعا ولا تفرقوا واذكروا نعمت الله عليكم إذ كنتم أعداء فألف بين قلوبكم فأصبحتم بنعمته إخوانا وكنتم على شفا حفرة من النار فأنقذكم منها كذلك يبين الله لكم آياته لعلكم تهتدون
• He has legislated for you as the religion what He enjoined on Nuh, (Noah) and that which We have revealed to you, (The Prophet) and what We have enjoined on Ibrahim and Musa and Isa (Abraham, Moses and Jesus, respectively) (saying), "Keep up the religion and do not be disunited therein." Greatly (detested) to the associators (i.e., those who associate others with Allah) is that to which you call them. Allah selects to Himself whomever He decides and guides to Himself whomever turns penitent.
  شرع لكم من الدين ما وصى به نوحا والذي أوحينا إليك وما وصينا به إبراهيم وموسى وعيسى أن أقيموا الدين ولا تتفرقوا فيه كبر على المشركين ما تدعوهم إليه الله يجتبي إليه من يشاء ويهدي إليه من ينيب
• And hold fast by the covenant of Allah all together and be not disunited , and remember the favor of Allah on you when you were enemies , then He united your hearts so by His favor you became brethren ; and you were on the brink of a pit of fire , then He saved you from it , thus does Allah make clear to you His communications that you may follow the right way .
  « واعتصموا » تمسكوا « بحبل الله » أي دينه « جميعا ولا تفرقوا » بعد الإسلام « واذكروا نعمة الله » إنعامه « عليكم » يا معشر الأوس والخزرج « إذ كنتم » قبل الإسلام « أعداء فألَّف » جمع « بين قلوبكم » بالإسلام « فأصبحتم » فصرتم « بنعمته إخوانا » في الدين والولاية « وكنتم على شفا » طرف « حفرة من النار » ليس بينكم وبين الوقوع فيها إلا أن تموتوا كفارا « فأنقذكم منها » بالإيمان « كذلك » كما بيَّن لكم ما ذكر « يبين الله لكم آياته لعلكم تهتدون » .

  وتمسَّكوا جميعًا بكتاب ربكم وهدي نبيكم ، ولا تفعلوا ما يؤدي إلى فرقتكم . واذكروا نعمة جليلة أنعم الله بها عليكم : إذ كنتم -أيها المؤمنون- قبل الإسلام أعداء ، فجمع الله قلوبكم على محبته ومحبة رسوله ، وألقى في قلوبكم محبة بعضكم لبعض ، فأصبحتم -بفضله- إخوانا متحابين ، وكنتم على حافة نار جهنم ، فهداكم الله بالإسلام ونجَّاكم من النار . وكما بيَّن الله لكم معالم الإيمان الصحيح فكذلك يبيِّن لكم كل ما فيه صلاحكم ؛ لتهتدوا إلى سبيل الرشاد ، وتسلكوها ، فلا تضلوا عنها .
