The higher education and scientific research sector helps to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms through training and research units in faculties, social science research groups covering this subject and chairs of human rights in general and of sectoral and thematic rights in particular, which have been endowed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
ويشارك قطاع التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي بدوره في تعزيز حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية، عن طريق عدة وحدات للتدريب والبحث على صعيد الجامعات، وفرق بحث في مجال العلوم الاجتماعية مراعية لهذا المنظور، إضافة إلى كراسي اليونيسكو الجامعية المتعلقة بالحقوق الإنسانية عامة والحقوق الفئوية والمواضيعية خاصة.

It also considered a report on new developments in economic relations between the GCC States and economic groupings, and on the conclusions of the Committee on Financial and Economic Cooperation at its most recent meeting concerning the promotion of economic relations between the GCC States and China. The Council approved the proposals of the Committee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation concerning support for private sector scientific research centres for the utilization and introduction of modern technology.
كما اطلع على تقرير عن مستجدات العلاقات الاقتصادية بين دول المجلس والدول والمجموعات الاقتصادية، وما توصلت إليه لجنة التعاون المالي والاقتصادي في اجتماعها الأخير حول تعزيز العلاقات الاقتصادية بين دول المجلس وجمهورية الصين الشعبية، ووافق المجلس على ما اقترحته لجنة التعاون العلمي والتقني بشأن مساندة مراكز البحوث العلمية للقطاع الأهلي في الاستفادة من التقنيات الحديثة وتوطينها.
