• On 13 July 1999, the Special Rapporteur sent a joint urgent appeal with the Special Representative on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran concerning student demonstrators who were attacked on 8 July 1999 by members of the armed forces and the student vigilante group, Ansar-e Hezbollah, while they were gathering outside the university hostels on Tehran Universitys Amirabad campus to demonstrate against the closure of the daily newspaper Salam.
  في 13 تموز/يوليه 1999، أرسل المقرر الخاص نداءً عاجلاً إلى الحكومة في مبادرة مشتركة مع المقرر الخاص المعني بحالة حقوق الإنسان في جمهورية إيران الإسلامية، فيما يتصل بالطلاب المتظاهرين الذين هاجمتهم في 8 تموز/يوليه 1999 القوات المسلحة وهاجمهم أفراد من مجموعة لجنة أمن الطلبة، أنصار حزب الله، عندما كانوا متجمعين خارج الحرم الجامعي بمركب أميراباد بجامعة طهران احتجاجاً على إقفال مكاتب صحيفة "سلام".
• The Special Rapporteur further sent an urgent appeal to the Government concerning the announcement of death sentences on 16 September 1999 by Gholamhossein Rahbarpur, President of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, against four students arrested during the demonstrations which began on 8 July 1999, when a group of students gathered outside university hostels in Tehran in an apparently peaceful protest against the closure of the daily newspaper Salam.
  كما أرسلت المقررة الخاصة نداء عاجلاً إلى الحكومة يتعلق بأحكام الإعدام التي أصدرها غلام حسين رهباربور، رئيس المحكمة الثورية لطهران، في 16 أيلول/سبتمبر 1999، ضد 4 طلاب. وكان هؤلاء الطلاب الأربعة قد ألقي القبض عليهم أثناء مظاهرات بدأت في 8 تموز/يوليه 1999 عندما التقت جماعة من الطلاب خارج المساكن الجامعية في طهران فيما يبدو أنه كان نوعاً من التظاهر السلمي ضد قفل الجريدة اليومية، جريدة "سلام".
