Illicit drug crop cultivation and drug production continue to have negative effects on the environment as the result of such activities as the clearing of forests through slash-and-burn cultivation, the indiscriminate use of herbicides and pesticides, overexploitation of forest resources and the discharge of waste products (precursor chemicals) into rivers.
أما زراعة محاصيل المخدرات غير المشروعة وإنتاج المخدرات، فهما يحدثان آثارا سلبية على البيئة من جرّاء القيام بأنشطة مثل إزالة الأحراج من خلال زراعة القَطع والحرق والاستخدام العشوائي لمبيدات الأعشاب والحشرات والاستغلال المفرط للموارد الحرجية وتصريف النفايات (الكيماويات السليفة) في الأنهار.
