On the other hand, the Assembly requested the Secretary-General in resolution 56/242 “to ensure that the Secretariat undertakes to translate all United Nations documents into all the other official languages of the Organization simultaneously, including documents for which circulation is requested under agenda items of the principal deliberative bodies of the United Nations, regardless of their length”.
ومن جهة أخرى، طلبت الجمعية بقرارها 56/242 إلى الأمين العام "أن يكفل تعهد الأمانة العامة بترجمة كافة وثائق الأمم المتحدة إلى جميع اللغات الرسمية الأخرى للمنظمة في آن واحد، بما فيها الوثائق المطالب بتعميمها بموجب بنود جدول أعمال الهيئات التداولية الرئيسية للأمم المتحدة، بغض النظر عن طولها.

On 29 March 2006, the Committee adopted the composition and programme of work of the Mission and decided that, owing to the reduced budget allotment available as a result of the temporary six-month budget of the United Nations: the length of the Mission would be shortened by two days; scheduled visits to several of the smaller islands would be eliminated; and the number of representatives of member States of the Special Committee and Secretariat support staff would be reduced.
وفي 29 آذار/مارس، أقرت اللجنة تكوين البعثة وبرنامج عملها، وقررت أنه بسبب تخفيض مخصص الميزانية المتاحة نتيجة لميزانية الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة ومدتها ستة أشهر فإن طول مدة البعثة سيقل بواقع يومين؛ وأن الزيارات التي كان من المقرر القيام بها إلى الجزر الأصغر ستُلغى كما سيُخفض عدد ممثلي الدول الأعضاء في اللجنة الخاصة وموظفي الدعم من الأمانة العامة.

The Secretariat contented itself with issuing only the request for circulation as a document in all six official languages, thus disregarding the legislative mandates requiring that all United Nations documents should be circulated in those languages. In order to avoid any recurrence of such cases, we expect the Secretary-General to give the necessary instructions to ensure that the Secretariat undertakes to translate all United Nations documents into all the other official languages of the Organization simultaneously, including documents for which circulation is requested under agenda items of the principal deliberative bodies of the United Nations regardless of their length.
وتفاديا لعدم تكرار مثل هذه الحالات ننتظر من الأمين العام إصدار التوجيهات اللازمة لضمان التزام الأمانة العامة بترجمة جميع وثائق الأمم المتحدة إلى اللغات الرسمية الست للأمم المتحدة وبشكل متزامن، بما فيها الوثائق التي يطلب تعميمها في إطار بنود الهيئات التداولية الرئيسية للأمم المتحدة، مهما بلغ حجمها.
