Of particular interest are ascertaining the mechanism of solar flares; studying the evolution of active areas in the pre- and post-solar-flare phases; continuous observation of the large-scale structure of quiet coronae and the evolution of coronal holes; identifying the nature of plasma in the area of its transformation into solar wind; studying variations in the Sun's radiation at the peak of the 11-year activity cycle for the purpose of gathering the experimental data necessary to develop methods of predicting solar activity and its influence on the magnetosphere and ionosphere of the Earth.
ومما يكتسب أهمية خاصة الاستيثاق من آلية التوهجات الشمسية؛ ودراسة تطور المناطق النشطة في مراحل ما قبل التوهجات الشمسية وبعدها؛ والرصد المتواصل للهيكل الواسع النطاق للاكليل الخامد وتطور الثقوب الاكليكية؛ وتحديد طبيعة البلازما في منطقة تحوّلها إلى رياح شمسية؛ ودراسة التغيُّرات في الأشعة الشمسية في ذروة دورة النشاط الممتدة 11 سنة، وذلك لغرض جمع البيانات التجريبية الضرورية لتطوير أساليب التنبؤ بالنشاط الشمسي وتأثيره على المجال المغنطيسي والمجال الأيوني للأرض.
