• Efforts are being implemented to outsource part of the United Nations Office at Geneva archives collection because of a lack of adequate storage space that complies with international preservation standards, although efforts in this area led to the renovation of library stacks and to the duplication of their capacity with the utilization of the “compactus” systems. The number of linear metres that could be used in archiving material for storage purpose in compliance with preservation standards increased from 80 metres in 2004-2005 to 254 in 2006-2007.
  ويجري بذل جهود للاستعانة بالمصادر الخارجية في تدبير محفوظات مكتب الأمم المتحدة في جنيف نظرا لنقص أماكن التخزين المستوفية للمعايير الدولية في مجال المحافظة على الوثائق، وذلك بالرغم من أن الجهود التي بذلت في هذا المضمار أسفرت عن تجديد رفوف المكتبة ومضاعفة سعتها باستخدام نظم ”Compactus“ وقد ارتفع عدد الأمتار الخطية التي يمكن استخدامها في تخزين الوثائق المحفوظة طبقا للمعايير المعمول بها في هذا المجال من 80 مترا مربعا في الفترة 2004-2005 إلى 254 في الفترة 2006-2007.
• The Committee notes that the revised plan not only incorporates the structure and foundation requirements resulting from the geotechnical study, but also incorporates the revised security and safety design features in the light of the above-mentioned security guidelines, maximizes the ratio of office space to common space (as recommended by the Advisory Committee in its report A/56/711) and aligns the use of office space with that developed in the context of the capital master plan (8.57 square metres per staff member instead of the previous standard of 9.11 square metres) (see also A/60/532, para. Moreover, the new building plan could accommodate 422 staff, instead of the 380 estimated in the initial report of the Secretary-General (A/56/672).
  وتحيط اللجنة علما بأن المخطط المنقح لا يراعي الاحتياجات التي نشأت عن الدراسة الجيوتقنية بشأن الهياكل والأسس فحسب، بل ويراعي أيضا المواصفات الأمنية والمتعلقة بالسلامة المنقحة في ضوء المبادئ التوجيهية الأمنية الآنفة الذكر، ويخصص أعلى نسبة ممكنة من المساحة للمكاتب بالمقارنة إلى الأماكن العامة (حسبما أوصت به اللجنة الاستشارية في تقريرها A/56/711)، ويحقق أقصى قدر من استخدام الحيز المكتبي استنادا إلى معايير الحيز المكتبي التي تمت بلورتها في المقر في سياق المخطط العام لتجديد مباني المقر(8.57 مترا مربعا لكل موظف بدلا من المعيار السابق وقدره 9.11 مترا مربعا لكل موظف) (انظر أيضا الفقرة 9 من A/60/532) وبالإضافة إلى ذلك يستطيع المبنى الجديد استيعاب 422 موظفا بدلا مما كان مقدرا في التقرير الأول للأمين العام (A/56/672) أي 380 موظفا.
