On 18 November 2002, at 1100 hours, Iran used machines (power shovels) to demolish the abandoned Ziyadi guard post, located on the border between Iran and Iraq at a distance of 1,500 metres from the Zaydi Iranian guard post. The demolition work continued until the morning of the following day, 19 November, when the guard post was completely destroyed.
