Additional requirements of $481,200 under miscellaneous services were primarily attributable to the high bank charges ($187,200), losses on currency exchange ($154,500), hire of casual labourers (gardening, cleaning and mailing services, handymen in identification and appeals centres) during peak workload periods in connection with the concurrent conduct of the identification and appeals processes, as well as to the unforeseen expenditure under contractual services ($69,200) for the renovation of desert runways (hire of a heavy road grader) and consulting services (engagement of a tax law expert for the recovery of value-added tax levied on the Mission by the host Government).
