On a request for nominations, Colonel Tao Xiangyang (China) and Brigadier General George Ayi-Bonte (Ghana) were elected by acclamation as Vice-Chairman and Rapporteur, respectively.
وعند طلب الترشيحات، انتُخب بالتزكية العقيد تاو شيانغيانغ (الصين) نائبا للرئيس، والعميد جورج آيي - بونتي (غانا) مقررا للفريق.

Mr. Ayi-Bonte (Ghana) said that, contrary to expectations following the end of the Cold War, demand for United Nations peacekeeping operations had surged, stretching the Organization's capacities to the limits.
السيد آي - بونت (غانا): قال إنه على عكس التوقعات عقب نهاية الحرب الباردة، تزايد الطلب على عمليات حفظ السلام مما جعل قدرات المنظمة تمتد إلى نهاية حدودها.

Pursuant to rule 15 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General wishes to report that he has received a note verbale dated 20 July 2007 from the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations stating that Mr. George Ayi-Bonte, Mr. Nana Kwesi Arhin, Mr. Damptey Bediako Asare and Mr. Sebastian Beliwine have been appointed alternate representatives of Ghana on the Council.
