Rising food prices is a real danger to growth and employment in Africa because food accounts for about 60 per cent of the consumption basket in sub-Saharan Africa and most countries in North Africa are net food importers, Egypt being the biggest net food importer.
ويمثل ارتفاع أسعار الأغذية خطراً حقيقياً للنمو والعمالة في أفريقيا لأن الأغذية تمثل نسبة 60 في المائة من سلة الاستهلاك في بلدان أفريقيا جنوب الصحراء الكبرى كما أن معظم البلدان في شمال أفريقيا هي بلدان مستوردة خالصة للأغذية وأكبر المستوردين الخالصين للأغذية هي مصر.
