But the field’s credibility is also being undermined fromwithin, by the growing prevalence of scientific misconduct –reflected in a recent spate of retracted scientific publications –and an increasingly unbalanced scientific workforce that facesperverse incentives. Although the vast majority of scientistsadhere to the highest standards of integrity, the corrosive effectsof dishonest or irreproducible research on science’s credibilitycannot be ignored.
لكن مصداقية هذا المجال يتم تقويضها من داخله وذلك عن طريقالانتشار المتزايد لسوء التصرف العلمي –لقد انعكس ذلك مؤخرا في موجةالمنشورات العلمية التي يتم التراجع عنها – ووجود اعداد متزايدة منالقوى العاملة غير المتوازنةوالتي تواجه حوافز ضاره وبالرغم من انالاغلبية الساحقة من العلماء يتقيدون بافضل معايير النزاهة فإنه لايمكن تجاهل التـأثير المتنامي للأبحاث غير الامينة او التي لا تنطويعلى المصداقية العلمية .
