  بيد أنه بقيت هناك معجزة أخرى قبل أن يغدو هذا الكائن الأولى كائناً بشرياً. وتكمن هذه المعجزة ولا ريب في العصر الجليدي الذي اجتث الغابات من جذورها وخلف بضعة قطعان من القردة الشبيهة بالإنسان معزولة عند أقدام الجبال محرومة من موطنها ( الأشجار ) ومضطرة إلى أن تلتمس حياة جديدة في أمن الكهوف تهددها في مخابئها الدببة والأسود.
