At the 14th meeting of its 2008 session, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) also requested the Department, inter alia, to take into account parity of languages, editorial policy, potential qualitative gains and other improvements intended by the change from UN Chronicle to “UN Affairs”.
وطلبت لجنة المسائل السياسية الخاصة وإنهاء الاستعمار (اللجنة الرابعة) أيضا، في جلستها الرابعة عشرة من دورتها لعام 2008، إلى الإدارة، في جملة أمور، أن تراعي مبدأ التكافؤ بين اللغات، وسياسة التحرير، والمكاسب النوعية الممكنة التحقيق، وغير ذلك من أوجه التحسين المتوخاة من تحويل مجلة وقائع الأمم المتحدة إلى مجلة ”شؤون الأمم المتحدة“.

Considers it necessary for the Department of Public Information to clearly identify practical improvements intended by the change from the UN Chronicle to “UN Affairs”, taking into account parity of languages, editorial policy, potential qualitative gains and other improvements and urges that the Department, while considering these aspects, place emphasis on cost-effective measures and the present budgetary constraints, and welcomes any other alternative in line with the mandate of the Department for the consideration of Member States;
ترى من اللازم أن تحدد إدارة شؤون الإعلام بوضوح أوجه التحسين العملي المتوخاة من التحول من مجلة وقائع الأمم المتحدة إلى مجلة ''شؤون الأمم المتحدة``، مع مراعاة مبدأ المساواة بين اللغات والسياسات المتبعة في التحرير والمكاسب النوعية الممكن تحقيقها وغير ذلك من أوجه التحسين، وتحث الإدارة على أن تشدد، لدى النظر في هذه الجوانب، على التدابير التي تحقق الفعالية من حيث التكلفة وعلى قيود الميزانية الراهنة، وترحب بطرح أي بديل آخر وفقا لولاية إدارة شؤون الإعلام لتنظر فيه الدول الأعضاء؛
