Policies being implemented by the US, including the discredited Structural Adjustment Programs of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund; vast privatization of public services; and a trade regime heavily skewed to benefit US-based corporations, are widely acknowledged to increase poverty and inequality and undermine public health, sustainable development, workers' rights, education and political participation.
ومن المسلم به على نطاق واسع أن السياسات التي تنفذها الولايات المتحدة وبرامج البنك الدولي وصندوق النقد الدولي للتكيف الهيكلي التي فقدت مصداقيتها، والعمليات الواسعة النطاق لخصخصة الخدمات العامة، وتطبيق نظام تجاري محرّف بشدة لما فيه فائدة الشركات التي توجد مقارها في الولايات المتحدة، تزيد جميعها من الفقر وعدم المساواة وتضعف الصحة العامة والتنمية المستدامة وحقوق العمال والتعليم والمشاركة السياسية.
