In its report (JIU/REP/89/11), JIU recommended that (a) a fully operational optical disk system for storage and retrieval of recent and future documentation should be installed in the United Nations Secretariat with appropriate resources being provided in the 1990-1991 budget (recommendation 1); and (b) the Assembly should consider the possibility of contracting out the inputting on optical disks of all existing United Nations documentation so as to allow the preservation of the institutional memory of the Organization, the ready availability of all United Nations documentation, and substantial additional savings (recommendation 2).
أوصت وحدة التفتيش المشتركة في تقريرها (JIU/REP/89/11) (أ) بتركيب نظام تشغيلي كامل يقوم على الأقراص الضوئية لتخزين واسترجاع الوثائق الحديثة والمقبلة في الأمانة العامة للأمم المتحدة وتوفير الموارد المناسبة لذلك في ميزانية فترة السنتين 1990-1991 (التوصية 1)؛ و (ب) بأن تنظر الجمعية في إمكانية التعاقد الخارجي على إدخال جميع الوثائق الحالية للأمم المتحدة على أقراص ضوئية مما يسمح بالحفاظ على الذاكرة المؤسسية للمنظمة والوصول الميسور إلى وثائق الأمم المتحدة وتحقيق وفورات إضافية كبيرة (التوصية 2).
