58,000 Lady Health Workers under the Ministry of Health and 13000 village based family planning workers under the Ministry of Population Welfare have been integrated to create a cadre of 71,000 family health workers under the National Programme for Family Planning and Primary Health Care.

The service delivery infrastructure of the population program operates through 1,958 Family Welfare Centers, 177 Mobile Service Units, and 114 Reproductive Health Centers and 12,000 Village Based Family Planning Workers (VBFPWs), 1285 male mobilisers and 24,650 medical practitioners providing reproductive health and family planning services to both urban and rural populations in the country.
