• The outcome of the World Summit on Sustainable Development would be a real success and the Rio generation conventions would be effectively implemented only if all States worked together at all levels to meet the expectations of hundreds of millions of children and young people, hundreds of millions of women and men throughout the world through bold decisions, positive initiatives and just solutions which would help to provide sustainable responses to environmental challenges. Every State must therefore contribute effectively to the common struggle against desertification in the affected countries.
